Who We Are
Will Blessing~is a 20 year old with a divine ability to right a wrong or to relieve a person’s burden of the soul. He doesn’t know how he does it… he just does it. It is an ability that only happens when all hope is lost or when evil leaves him no other choice. Will is a charismatic singer who chooses to hide behind his music as he tries to deny his seemingly divine gift. Until recently Will lived with his mother. His Uncle Dave is struggling to connect with Will. Will’s grieving for his recently deceased mother, shocked to have his uncle back in his life, and furious to be leaving Chicago.
Dave Blessing~is a former rock star. Having traveled with his 90's rock band, ISOLATION, for twenty years, he is now trying to raise his nephew. Leaving behind the rock star world and its big cities, Dave has taken his nephew and moved to Punkyville, Kentucky to become music minister at a small church. He hopes that getting Will out of Chicago will allow them a chance to get to know each other. Dave’s sister, Jenny, comes along to add to the chaos.
Jenny Blessing~(sister to Dave… Will’s aunt) is the free spirit of the Blessing family. With Katy’s sudden death, Dave not only inherits a hostile, aloof teenaged son but also his sister, Jenny, to manage. Although Jenny is a handful, her bright spirit and creative heart seem to touch everyone in a positive way.
Casey Buckner~is a smart, beautiful girl with a passion to see the world. She loves the country and all its splendor. At the State Fair, she shocked the community with a reading from her essay-- ""Are animals nicer than people?"." It is said that one lady fainted at the very notion. Casey is fascinated by Will, and she is drawn to him by the music.
Samantha Buckner~is trying to give her daughter, CASEY, a better life. A former beauty queen and cheerleader herself, she is now alone after her husband ran out on her eight months earlier. She manages "The Chatterbox Diner", which takes everything she has just to stay open.
Jonah Erkerson~is said to be the philosopher of the town. After receiving a blow to the head during a hog tossing competition, he began sharing his insightful remarks. He is credited with the statement-- "He bothers me…therefore he is." Jonah, the only heir to the Erkerson fortune, spends his time on his latest invention.
Reverend Herschel Felding~As the leader of the Punkyville Christian Church, Herschel has made sweeping changes to the organization such as co-ed softball games, and a heated toilet seat in the church basement restroom. He has a kind heart, but he has difficulty showing his emotions.
Brenda Felding~has been married to Herschel for 26 years. She is the President of the PTA, as well as anything else in Punkyville that could have a President.
Barry Tortelson~is a Deacon at the Punkyville Christian Church and a Winnebago salesman. He was a football star at Rabbit Hatch High 21 years ago, and he is having a hard time letting go of his days of football ‘glory.’
Dirk Wallehnorst~City Councilman. He is known for his practical jokes at the city functions. His jokes have included such hilarious gags as placing all the townspeoples bank account information on the internet, booking a fake cruise ship excursion, and pretending to have a heart attack while driving the church bus through the mountains.
Wiley Peters~owns the local gas and service station. He has the largest collection of oil cans in the region.
Mary Ann Davidson~owns the only real estate agency in Punkyville. She is the self-proclaimed soloist of Punkyville. She has sung the National Anthem at every Punkyville Baseball Game since the previous singer, Millie Bolono, was struck in the larynx with a baseball and rendered mute. Mary Ann has a bit of a reputation as a town flirt. Her daughter, Lily, is often embarrassed by her mother's behavior.
Lily Davidson~pretty, spunky girl with a big heart. She is Casey’s best friend and confidant.
Jesse Merkel~is a young woman with an amazing array of artistic talents. She loves to draw on anything she can. She also plays the guitar.
Judy Merkel~is the principal of the Punkykville Elementary School. She is disciplined and strict. She recently banned 42 colors of the 100 pack crayon case on the grounds that these colors were 'detrimental' to young minds.
Didi Day~is the owner of the Rapunzels Beauty Salon and Dog Grooming Boutique. Didi is a hardworking career-oriented woman. Her savings, along with an endowment from the late Buddy Grabs of Buddy Grab’s Trout Boats, has enabled her to branch out into real estate.
Missy Puckett~was a previous Miss Kentucky, and is now a professional busybody. She is currently into selling scrap booking materials, but has found herself taking on a new business opportunity every month.
Lacy Whittengross~is the treasurer for the church. Her math skills are weak therefore causing a few problems with his accounting of the church’s books. The IRS has audited the church every year since its inception.
Edna Jennings~is one step behind everyone else. She is sweet, kind and lost.
Mavis Dally~Mavis loves to make decorative door hangings and driftwood coffee tables. He works at the Rapunzels Hair Salon and Dog Grooming Boutique. He is the stylist of all the dogs.
Clem Pulander~is a farmer who also happens to be a Bluegrass musician. Often during planting season, the sound of a banjo can be heard coming from the fields.
Horseshoe Pulander~Clem's brother, is returning from a two year self-inflicted, survival retreat in the Daniel Boone National Forest. He was spotted once in those two years running naked with a herd of coyotes.
Tommy Lawrence~is a mysterious, gifted young man who has never said a word. It is rumored that he has a beautiful singing voice.
"Stumpy" Fletcher~is an outsider raised by cows up near Bent Back Falls, Kentucky. He has made his living through farming and dairy cows.
